There are lots of tutorials for paper stars around, some are more complicated than others. I came up with this star when experimenting with paper folding and trying to figure out how it would work.
You will need:
Paper or card (best to do a trial run on paper first)
ruler
pencil
bone folder for scoring (if you don't have a bone folder, an old biro pen that no longer works, does well - something that will score along the paper without cutting it.)
1 - Cut a square of paper. The above square is 12cm x 12cm.
2 - Draw 2 lines going vertically and horizontally through the centre of the paper.
3 - Draw diagonal lines going from one corner to the other.
4 - Make a mark half way between each line around the edge of the paper. Draw a dotted line from the centre outwards to each mark.
5 - Use the bone folder to score along each line.
6 - Start folding and creasing along the lines. The solid lines are the valleys (on the wrong side of the paper) and the dotted lines are the mountains.
7 - Make cuts around the edges (fold each peak and cut towards the edge of the paper) to create a star shape.
